Character concept and design
° According to Bjorn San Juan, that the concept for Doctor Murder will be like the villain from some classic time-travel films. In its early concept, it will be like the Bowler Hat Guy from Meet the Robinsons.
° In his alternate version in the third series, he was wearing an exoskeletal armor similar to Ronan the Accuser from the 2014 film Guardians of the Galaxy.
° His name Marquis Gustave-François de Merteuil was named in the honor of Kathryn Merteuil, the main villainess from the 1999 romantic melodrama film Cruel Intentions.
